Building useful software.
Connecting the pieces.

I'm Zack Raboin, a product and technology executive with nearly 20 years building and managing technology, most recently as a Vice President of Innovation and a Co-Founder & CTO. I turn complex operational problems into practical products and workflows, bringing business context and technical execution together.

Product-minded. Technically fluent. Focused on outcomes.
A little about me

A broad view of technology, grounded in delivery.

My work has spanned product strategy, software delivery, integrations, geospatial workflows, and team leadership. I like understanding the full problem, from the person using the software to the systems behind it.

For nearly 20 years, I've built and managed technology for the utility and telecommunications infrastructure industry, first leading software and process projects, then owning technical products, and ultimately setting product and technology strategy as a Vice President and CTO. Along the way I've developed multiple applications, led engineering teams, connected third-party platforms, and improved how field and office teams work.

I bring a practical approach to technology: understand the user and business need, choose an appropriate solution, make the trade-offs explicit, and work with the team to deliver something reliable.

Product thinkingConnect user problems, product scope, roadmap, and business value.
Technical fluencyWork comfortably across architecture, APIs, mobile, cloud, and data.
Systems mindsetConsider how tools, teams, and information work together end to end.
Delivery focusBalance quality, constraints, feedback, and the next useful release.

Leadership & execution

The work is more than the technology.

Good software comes from aligning people, priorities, and technical decisions around a problem worth solving.

As Co-Founder and CTO of D8Averse, my responsibilities crossed engineering, product management, customer success, and marketing. I worked with a distributed team and stayed close to both the technical work and the product's commercial realities.

Before that, I progressed through four roles at Essentia, from Product Manager to Vice President of Innovation, including directing a 15-person innovation team.

My approach is to create clarity around the problem, make priorities and trade-offs visible, and keep the team focused on delivering useful improvements. I value direct communication, regular feedback, and pragmatic decisions over process for its own sake.

01
Technical directionHelp teams understand the architecture, constraints, and reasoning behind decisions.
02
Product prioritizationTranslate customer needs and business goals into an achievable roadmap.
03
Distributed collaborationCoordinate engineering and cross-functional work across locations and disciplines.
04
Commercial awarenessConsider adoption, support, pricing, delivery cost, and product sustainability alongside features.

How I work

Clear thinking. Practical execution.

The most useful technology work starts with the problem, not the tool.

Understand the workflow

Start with the people, constraints, and real-world conditions around the problem before defining a solution.

Choose the right level of complexity

Use custom software, integrations, automation, or AI where each is justified by the need.

Deliver and learn

Make progress visible, gather feedback, validate assumptions, and improve the product in useful increments.

Let's connect

Have a product problem worth solving?

I'm interested in opportunities where product thinking, technical understanding, and cross-functional execution can help a team build better software and better workflows.
